The true disability is that of the heart

Between the life of a simple-minded person animated by love, and that of a CEO animated by money — where is the madness? Jean-Marc Tonizzo

The consciousness of part of the medical world seems today to be prisoner of the contingencies of profitability, Taylorism and the values of the market — money, profit, elitism, utility, bodily aesthetics.

The obsessions of the consumer society are now invading the mindset of these medical corporations that tradition directed rather toward ethics, altruism, equality and so on. Dumbfounded by the ultra-liberal offensive, medicine is bringing back "aristocratic" norms into fashion — whereas preceding times, well on track in the logical evolution of humanity, were on the contrary devaluing these injustices.

The deformed

Instead of questioning the justness of these visions, the medical world confirms them through its unreflective behaviour.

This is the case of deformity.

Certain of its good reason, medicine systematically proposes to exclude from arriving at life what society judges deformed — existences considered non-conforming by the ultra-pragmatic world (such as the simple-minded and the trisomy person). Instead of militating to improve their integration, help parents of different children and evolve the gaze cast on trisomy — medicine proposes the pure and simple elimination of this form of existence.

On the capacity to love

When one observes humanity from our empathy, one may ask oneself where the true human deformity lies.

Is it in the simple-minded person capable of offering their love naively — naturally engaging the other to love them in return? Or in the highly intelligent human being, physically normal, but empty of all empathy and incapable of simply loving others? For humanity, is not the atrophy of consciousness, the absence of empathy and love, more dangerous than the atrophy of intelligence? Does the human species not have more to fear from the intelligent, calculating and cold man who instinctively aims at the enslavement of others and the planet, than from the simple-minded person empty of all such pretensions?

Pre-vision:

Our evolution is still in its adolescence. Years, decades, centuries and millennia will doubtless come after us. Our period of ultra-consumption, fierce competition, unconsciousness and narcissism will end. It will appear to our descendants as archaic as medieval comfort appears to us. The market era will be surpassed — perhaps far sooner than one thinks. The few decades we have just lived through will doubtless be considered as a great moment of madness. A day will come when humanity will have attained such a degree of empathic evolution that simple-minded children will be hoped for by families. Parents will be considered fortunate. People will pay for the chance to spend some time alongside these different mystical healers of the soul.
