The concept of "evil" includes several meanings. According to Leibniz, we can conceive of three ways. Metaphysical evil, physical evil and moral evil ( theodicy ) . Our theory study essentially evil in connection with ethics, morality and law. The evil that is inflicted on others by transgressing the universal rules . But before we disclaim other interpretations.
For Hegel evil is "the discrepancy between what should be and what actually is ." This formula seems fair . "Evil" actually opposes compliance of existence. For example, we are made to be healthy. How, indeed, establish a "compliance" perfectly fair and inclusive ?
There are many conventions about the compliant and non-compliant. But we see how this tacit agreement varies in time and place . Much of Greek standards of right and wrong has changed in the Middle ages . Some medieval standards ( serfdom for example) have disappeared. And some current legal abuse ( VIP -ization for example) are designed, hopefully, to disappear quickly.
